ARDENNES

WINTER OFFENSIVE / DECEMBER 1944

AMERICAN / WEST

Mission: Hold the western objectives, delay the offensive and counterattack exposed formations. Deny Germany eight points at the final check.

    GERMAN / EAST

Mission: Concentrate westward, keep supply open, and capture at least eight points. Manual mode also rewards western exits; preserve fuel and combat readiness.

      Campaign History

Newest events first. The American and German panels beside the map explain current operations; this history keeps up to 60 saved events, including earlier turns.

Both totals measure currently held objectives, not cumulative points or a competing-score victory rule.

        Order of Battle

Unit symbols: [=] armour, [X] infantry, [P] airborne / paratroopers, [M] mechanised infantry / cavalry. These distinguish formation types visually; their existing movement and combat rules are unchanged.

The two numbers beside each active formation are combat points / remaining movement points. For example, 55 / 0 means 55 combat points (current fighting strength) and no movement points remaining for the current phase.

Select a formation to inspect it on the map; only your commanded army can receive orders. Reinforcement schedules show arrival turn, date and current status. Scheduled arrivals join after that day's combat; blocked arrivals are delayed.

            Campaign Rules

New campaigns use the Manual-based rules: separate movement and combat phases, combined attacks, artillery, strategy, supply, fuel and readiness. Germany cannot move on turn 1. New player-aid campaigns use provisional 24 MP infantry / 30 MP mechanized allowances; existing saves retain their allowances. The rules are an adaptation; see the Manual-based guide for details and documented approximations.

Command either side across the twelve daily turns from 16–27 December. Follow the victory assessment on the campaign screen for the current objective and scoring. The computer controls the opposing side unless you choose Two players / Hotseat.

Use the controls beside the map to issue movement and combat orders. New campaigns autosave in the browser; Export Save and Import Save transfer campaigns. Existing saves retain their saved rules.

This is an original scenario, not the original game's exact map or combat tables.

Your current autosave will be replaced. New campaigns use the Manual-based rules. Choose your command side; the computer controls the opposing side.

            Player's aid card options

Rating 5 uses the card's combat points. Each level above/below 5 adds/subtracts 3 CP per formation, including reinforcements. Imports retain saved ratings without applying them again.

Manual campaigns incorporate the player’s aid card’s full roster, reinforcement dates, ratings and cumulative victory scoring on the rebuilt 19 × 11 map, plus the Apple-version supplement’s second combat, 25-CP elimination threshold, weighted strategy pressure, air-interdiction reports and R-key status display. Starting positions and unspecified formulas remain documented adaptations. Computer vs Computer supplies the demo; obsolete Apple disk/monitor setup is replaced by browser controls.
